So here’s the story.

A few weeks ago, I was being a Twitter-creep and chatting back and forth with some lovely travel bloggers, when someone brought up Valentine’s Day.

I jokingly Tweeted something along the lines of, “I could use some advice. Like how do I get a date?”

And then Twitter exploded all over my Internet.

There was an outpouring of support, from men and women alike… I’m not joking.

“Why are you single?”
“You’re doing it wrong.”
“Men are crazy.”
“Try online dating!”

The Tweets came fast and furious (and that’s what she said), and then I even received several Direct Messages from people expressing their sincere condolences for the way my lovely Tweeters had taken my situation by the horns and reached out to help.

The best part? They gave me my very own hashtag. Soon Tweets were punctuated with #candiceneedsyou. I’m not sure who’s to blame for this one, @theaussienomad? @mobilelawyer? Whatever the case, the hashtag kept emerging for days. If I had a problem, I’d Tweet #candiceneedsyou. If I couldn’t figure out what to wear to work, #candiceneedsyou.

Thanks all of you, for lending a helping hand! At least I know I won’t die alone and lonely…right?

Anyway, slowly catching up with my workload. I’ll even do a travel blog post tomorrow, woo! I’m not quite as far along as I would have liked though, considering I got sidetracked by the effing amazing gold medal ownage from Team Canada. Post to come about that later.

Also, went out on Friday night and had a blast. I’m a little blown over by how amazing the past three weeks have been, I feel like I’ve been dipped into a vat of happiness and rolled around in sunshine. Life is amazing.

Here’s a highlight from the weekend. We went to a friend’s birthday party where the boys were giving out door prizes. Among many treats, Lottie won shaving soap and another girl won a can of lube. TOR, of course, happened to dig out some stove burner covers, which was eerily fitting.

I didn’t win. But I did find this amazing plastic pirate’s hook and proceeded to ask everyone if they’d like to hook up. I woke up alone.

Let's hook up

Let's hook up

I’ve also been featured over at Blonde Monde with my “first ever date” story. Not gonna lie, romance on the island is pretty lame. V, I will acknowledge your award very soon, you vixen you.

  1. I am with the twitter world, why you are single perplexes me. Considering how attractive, smart, fun, social, and stable you are.
Mind you others say the same of me and I just say I am in no rush. It will happen when it happens.

I am glad you are not down about it though. We all think the world of you and if I could hook ya up I would.

Thanks Chris! Don’t worry, I wasn’t trying to garner some flattery or anything, but I appreciate it. :) The world is a mysterious place.

Entertaining first date story, even if it was a little awkward…I think all first dates probably are. What was the best advice you got from your tweet?

Though, really, very glad you’re having such good times ;)
I have pretty much not been online (except breifly at work where everything fun is blocked) since pre-gold medal game… I haven’t even looked at the pictures! I’m sure I have a terrified Candice on my camera somewhere, though ;)

The hook line is genius – and frankly I am appalled that you woke up alone, that must have been by choice. Yes?
