I’d like to say I’ve been using my unemployment time wisely to check out the job market. I have, but it’s hard to stay focused when everyone realizes you don’t actually work and are available for random excursions and beers. Which explains why I’ve been hungover way too often this past month.
Last weekend, I went downtown and lost my underwear. I couldn’t figure it out, they just disappeared. Nothing sexual, I just couldn’t find them. Later that day, I found them in my purse with the sides snapped. I need a diet.
The next night, I went to a friend’s BBQ and ended up downtown for George Street Fest again. But after the festivities, a few of us decided it’d be a good idea to drive out to Cape Spear and be the first people in North America to see the sun come up. Romantic, right?
It was pitch dark and spooky, so we settled down on the pavement in front of a memorial cross like we were holding vigil. I had hoped icebergs and whales would complete the picture, but it didn’t. Just a whole lot of laughter and reminiscing about old childhood movies like Fern Gully and Homeward Bound. Then I peed in a bunker and exposed my ass to some walkers on the trail.
We were also filming a video for a contest, so we then drove out to Signal Hill at daylight and I climbed a cannon while swigging whisky.

We found these cryptic nonsense messages:

Who the hell names their kid “Troilus”? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Anyway, despite me being so irresponsible, life has been good. I’ve been living really fast.
Me: “Man, the last month has been so epic.”
L: “Your whole life is epic, sometimes we’re fortunate enough to be along for the ride.”
Ah, life.

Cartwheeling fairy?
(Photos stolen from the lovely Maggie…again.)

Ah man. If I had a nickel for every time I went downtown and lost my underwear.
You’d be broke?
i think my original comment disappeared… sadface ;(
however, pretty sure it went a lil’ something like this….
*ahem*
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m sure – I’ve lived more these past two months than I ever thought possible. Loves you.
Also, this summer goes beyond epic. It’s been double rainbow, all the way across the sky, ALL THE TIME.
I almost want to apologize for tempting you away from unemployment productivity.. but, whatever, I gave you a ‘job’, that makes up for it, no? ;D Plus, I’ll helping you win money and keep up with the visuals for your blogs…
“gravity works”. epic is good and remember to always swirl.
I don’t even know who you are, but you are my FAVOURITE PERSON right now.
(seriously, do you know how often I say “gravity work”? you don’t, but trust me.. it’s a lot..)
The notes you found are from a play that they’re putting off up on Signal Hill. Shakespeare Candice!
That last picture is great! I love your hair and that cute dress you’re wearing!
Have fun!
I think epic says it best.
posts like these makes me wish I was unemployed and able to frolic, lose my undewear and wake up hungover all the time too. *sigh*. I want in on the next adventure. And leave it to Kay Jax to figure out the notes !
I’m so happy things have been good and fun and again IM JEALOUS!
Your life is for sure epic! Unemployment is treating you well my dear
oh and PS, thank you for your support with the DD situation. It means the world to me!
That’s a nice dress you’re wearing in these photos.
aw girl. so glad you’re resuming a normal life again of boozing it up and not completely wallowing in your misery.
you bounced back quicker than i did, thats for sure!
it’s nice for awhile not to have any obligations. of course, then you realize you’re about to lose everthing you own if you don’t start making money. but whatever – enjoy it until that feeling sets in!
I think the best way to deal with unemployment is drinking!
Looks too fun, why would you wanna go back to work? LOL.
The last time I sat on a canon, the only thing I had in my hand was a Snork doll. Boo me.
That’s why I did not wear any underwear. Once I turned 30 I had to.
You’re pretty funny.
BTW, I had misplaced the link to your blog and I was already panting cause I couldn’t find it.
Need to catch up on your last posts
: )
@Carlo: that comment made me laugh my face off.
@Hevs: your comment is now highly amusing to me.
@everyone else: I assure you I’m still working my face off trying to get some freelance on the go, but also enjoying my summer to the extreme.
@Kjax: so devastated i didn’t realize it was shakespeare. thanks for exposing me.
You look like you’re in “The Sound of Music” in that last picture. The cannon one was cool too. Seeing that note makes me want to write a whole bunch of cryptic ones and leave them all around town tonight. What a great idea, Candice. Awesome!
On a side note, did you go to BlogHer?
